2026 Asia Pride Games - Tennis Competition Regulations

Organization

  1. Directed by: Ministry of Sports, Asia Pride Games Alliance (APGA)
  2. Organizer: Taiwan Gay Sports & movement Association
  3. Co-Host: Kaohsiung City Government
  4. Co-Organizer: Kaohsiung Athletic Federation Tennis Committee

Objectives

To promote sports exchange among LGBTQ+ communities across Asia, enhance the values of gender and sexual orientation equality, advocate for a sporting culture, and promote physical and mental health, the 2026 Asia Pride Games are hereby organized.

Dates & Venue

  1. Dates: May 2 (Saturday) – May 3 (Sunday), 2026
  2. Venue: Kaohsiung Municipal Jhongshan Tennis Courts (10 Courts)

Eligibility

  1. Open to all domestic and international athletes who are part of the LGBTQ+ community or are friendly to gender diversity and support gender equality.
  2. There are no restrictions on gender or age.
  3. Participants under the age of 18 must obtain consent from a legal guardian.
  4. Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
  5. Please download the Parental Consent Form from the Sports Regulations page on the website and email the signed copy to gaygames.tw@gmail.com.
  6. Minors who are married are exempt from this requirement.

Registration

  1. Registration Period: From now until January 30, 2026, at 23:59. Late registrations will not be accepted.
  2. Registration Method: Online registration only.
  3. Competition regulations, schedules, relevant materials, and results will be posted on the Association’s website and the Official Website.
  4. Registration is considered complete only after payment is made. Unpaid or late payments will not be accepted.
  5. Payment: Online credit card payment only.
  6. Please check the website for your registration status two days after payment.
  7. To maintain competition quality, registration will close once the maximum capacity is reached. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  8. If payment is not completed by the deadline, the system will automatically cancel the registration eligibility. No objections will be entertained.

Competition Categories

1. Singles:

  1. Levels: O (Open), A, B, C, D.
  2. Available for: Men's Division, Women's Division.
  3. 55+ Group: Men's Division, Women's Division.

2. Doubles:

  1. Levels: O (Open), A, B.
  2. Available for: Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles.
  3. Centenary Group (Combined Age 100+): 1

  4. Available for: Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, Mixed Doubles.
  5. (Note: Combined age of partners must be 100 years or older).
  6. Note: Participants may register for both Singles and Doubles.

Competition Rules

  1. The competition adopts the latest tennis rules approved by the Chinese Taipei Tennis Association (CTTA). In case of any dispute regarding rule interpretation, the ITF (International Tennis Federation) English rules shall prevail. For details, please refer to: https://reurl.cc/mqY3RG
  2. Scoring Format:
  3. All Singles and Doubles matches will play One Set to 6 Games with No-Ad Scoring (Sudden death at deuce).
  4. At 5-5 in games, a 7-Point Tie-Break will be played to determine the winner.
  5. (Note: Format may be adjusted based on the number of participants).
  6. Tournament System:
  7. Group Round Robin System: Participants will be divided into groups. Each player/team will play against others in their group (subject to the number of entries). This format ensures participants are not eliminated after a single match.

Awards

  1. The top three places in each category will be recognized.
  2. 1st to 3rd Place: Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals awarded by the organizer (Joint 3rd Place).

Important Notices (Please read carefully)

  1. Disputes: Any disputes during the match will be interpreted by the on-site Chair Umpire/Referee. Their decision is final and binding.
  2. Identity Check: The organizer will verify athlete identities before the match. Matches proceed only after confirmation. Re-checks may be requested during the match if discrepancies arise. No appeals regarding identity will be accepted after the match.
  3. Disqualification: Eligibility violations or impersonations result in immediate disqualification from the match and a forfeit.
  4. Venue Change: The organizer reserves the right to use alternative venues if the existing courts are insufficient.
  5. Check-in & Walkovers:
  6. Please complete the check-in procedure 15 minutes before the match.
  7. Participants (or teams) failing to appear within 5 minutes of the scheduled time will be deemed to have forfeited. Timekeeping is based on the referee's watch; no objections allowed.
  8. Schedule Adjustments: If the schedule advances, please proceed to compete upon broadcast announcement. In special cases, players may follow the original schedule. However, if delayed, participants absent within 5 minutes of the broadcast announcement will be declared to have forfeited.
  9. Refunds:
  10. Refunds (minus 10% admin fee) are available if requested before the registration deadline.
  11. No refunds after the registration deadline as funds will have been allocated for insurance and admin costs.
  12. Full refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to force majeure.
  13. Conduct: Violations of sportsmanship, insulting referees, or obstructing the game by athletes or their relatives may result in termination of participation in all subsequent events upon the decision of the Referee Committee.
  14. Insurance: All athletes are insured for NT$ 3 million+ (Personal Accident, covering death, disability, and medical) per Ministry of Sports regulations. Additional personal insurance is recommended.

  18. Media Rights: Photography and video recording of the competition will be used for future promotion, final reports, and social media albums by the organizer.
