Volleyball Competition Regulations

Competition Categories

  1. General Division (Competitive): For those who love the sport and seek competition.
  2. Men's, Women's, Collegiate Men, Collegiate Women.
  3. Fun Division (Recreational): Focuses on participation.
  4. Mixed Gender (Open/Fun Group).

Special Restriction on Elite Players:

  1. If a team includes players with the following statuses, only one such player may be on the roster/checked in per match:
  2. Domestic or international professional players.
  3. Domestic or international National Team members (including training squads).
  4. Active UVL (University Volleyball League) Division I players.
  5. Active HVL (High School Volleyball League) Division I players.

Dates & Venues

  1. Dates: May 1 (Friday) – May 3 (Sunday), 2026
  2. Venues:
  3. Fucheng Senior High School (9 Covered Courts/Wind & Rain Courts)
  4. Qianzhen Senior High School Gymnasium (2 Indoor Courts)


Objectives

To promote sports exchange among LGBTQ+ communities across Asia, enhance the values of gender and sexual orientation equality, advocate for a sporting culture, and promote physical and mental health, the 2026 Asia Pride Games are hereby organized.



Eligibility

  1. Open to all domestic and international athletes who are friendly to gender diversity and support gender equality.
  2. There are no restrictions on gender or age.
  3. Participants under the age of 18 must obtain consent from a legal guardian.
  4. Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
  5. Please download the Parental Consent Form from the Sports Regulations page on the website and email the signed copy to gaygames.tw@gmail.com.
  6. Minors who are married are exempt from this requirement.

Registration

  1. Registration Period: From now until January 30, 2026, at 23:59. Late registrations will not be accepted.
  2. Method: Online registration only.
  3. Regulations, schedules, relevant materials, and results will be posted on the event Fan Page and Official Website.
  4. Registration is considered complete only after payment. Unpaid or late payments will not be accepted.
  5. Payment: Online credit card payment only.
  6. Please check the website for your registration status two days after payment.
  7. To maintain competition quality, registration will close once the maximum capacity is reached. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  8. If payment is not completed by the deadline, the system will automatically cancel the registration. No objections will be entertained.

Awards

  1. The top four teams in each group will be recognized.
  2. 1st to 3rd Place: Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals awarded by the organizer.
  3. 4th Place: Certificate of merit.


Competition Rules

1. General Rules:

  1. Collegiate Division: Must present a Student ID. If the ID lacks a registration stamp, a Certificate of Enrollment must be provided.
  2. Rulebook: Adopts the latest 2025-2028 Volleyball Rules compiled by the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Association (CTVBA). Special regulations will be detailed in the event handbook.
  3. System: Dependent on the number of teams, but primarily Group Round Robin for preliminary and second rounds.
  4. Match Format: All matches are Best of 3 Sets. The deciding (3rd) set is played to 15 points.
  5. Referees: Qualified Referees (Grade C or above) appointed by the CTVBA.

2. Special Rules for Fun/Mixed Division:

  1. Composition: A maximum of 2 biological female players(including the Libero) may be on the court at any time.
  2. Three-Touch Rule: Within a team's three touches, at least one touch must be made by a biological female player. (This does not apply if the team sends the ball over in fewer than 3 touches).
  3. Male Front Zone Restriction: When a biological male player rotates to the Front Zone, he may only send the ball over the net using an underhand action. Any other form of attack/send-over is a foul and results in a point for the opponent.
  4. Blocking: Biological male players in the Front Zone may only block opposing biological male players. They may not block opposing biological female players. (Definition of "Attack" follows standard Volleyball Rules).
  5. Back Row Attack: Biological male players performing a back-row attack must take off completely from the Back Zone (behind the 3-meter line).
  6. Any rules not specified here follow the CTVBA 2025-2028 regulations.

3. Ranking System (Round Robin):

Ranking is determined in the following order:

  1. Matches Won: Teams are ranked by the number of matches won.
  2. Points: If match wins are tied, ranking is determined by points:
  3. Win: 2 points.
  4. Loss: 1 point.
  5. Forfeit/Confiscated: 0 points.
  6. Set Quotient: If points are tied, rank by (Total Sets Won ÷ Total Sets Lost).
  7. Point Quotient: If still tied, rank by (Total Points Won ÷ Total Points Lost).
  8. Tie-Breaker:
  9. If two teams are tied, the winner of the head-to-head match wins.
  10. If three teams are tied, the ranking is determined by a drawing of lots by the organizer.

Important Notices (Please read carefully)

  1. Uniforms: Jerseys must be uniform in style and color. The Libero must wear a jersey of a contrasting color. Jerseys must have visible numbers (1-99) on the front and back, and a team name or logo/flag. The Captain must have a stripe on the chest.
  2. Numbering: Players must use the same jersey number throughout the tournament; it cannot be changed.
  3. ID Check: Player IDs must be submitted to the Control Committee for verification before entering the court.
  4. Net Height:
  5. Men's Division: 2.43 m
  6. Women's & Fun Divisions: 2.24 m
  7. Disqualification: Eligibility violations, impersonation, or unsportsmanlike conduct (verified) will result in match forfeiture or disqualification (at the organizer's discretion).
  8. Disputes: Referee decisions regarding rules and interpretations are final.
  9. Walkovers:
  10. Teams must be present and ready 15 minutes before the match.
  11. Failure to appear within 5 minutes of the scheduled time results in forfeiture.
  12. Schedule Adjustments: If matches finish early, teams should play upon broadcast announcement (unless special circumstances prevent it). However, if the schedule is delayed, teams failing to appear within 5 minutes of the broadcast announcement will forfeit.
  13. Identity Challenges: Requests to verify an opponent's identity must be made before the match begins. No checks accepted after play starts.
  14. Protests: Must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes after the match, signed by the team leader, with a deposit of NT$ 3,000 (approx. USD $100). If the Jury deems the protest groundless, the deposit is confiscated.
  15. Refunds:
  16. Refunds (minus 10% admin fee) are available if requested before the registration deadline.
  17. No refunds after the deadline.
  18. Full refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled due to force majeure.
  19. Conduct: Violations of sportsmanship or insulting referees by athletes/relatives may result in termination of all subsequent participation.
  20. Insurance: Athletes are insured for NT$ 3 million+ (Personal Accident) per Ministry of Sports regulations.
  21. Harassment Prevention: Complaints can be filed via Email (gaygames.tw@gmail.com) or immediately to the Chief Referee.
  22. Media Rights: Event photography/videography will be used for promotion and reporting.
  23. The organizer reserves the right to amend or interpret these regulations.
